There a special tiain was in readiness to continue the journey to Lyttelton. There were present at the funeral the. Hon. W. Hall-Jones, Hon. C. C. Bowen (Speaker of the Legislative Council), Hon. E. C. Stevens, Hon. C. Louisson, Mr A. Longden (British representative at tn e Exhibition), Mr H. J. Scott (South Australian Commissioner), Mr G. S. Munro (General Manager), Lieut.-Colonel Bauchope (Officer Commanding the District) and other officers, T. W. Stringer (Crown Prosecutor), G. Pauling (Deputy-Mayor), H. R. Smith 1 lown Clerk), A. D. Dobson (City Surveyor), and representatives i.f banks and Governmont Departments, uio Lytielton Times, Press J Press Association, and Handsard staff, together with a number of private trieiids. Dean Harper conducted a short service at the chapel, and the full burial service will be given at the interment at Nelson on Wednesday*
AN APPRECIATION. Per Press Association. Auckland, November ig. Referring- to tha death of the Hon. A. Pitt, the Hon. Geo. Fowlds said to a Star representative to-day: "He was an exceedingly fine-spirited man, with a very li!£h sense ol' pubtic duty. He possessed a keen, clear, legally-trained mind, but at the same timo was abie to take a practical view of every question that arose. He was also a man of culture, a polished speaker, and always considerate of the feelings of others. The death of such a man will be keenly felt by his colleagues, and his place will b« very difficult to fill.
