THREATENING THE PREMIER.

W. S. AICJQN CONVICTED. Per Press Association. Auckland, Nouember 19. William Stevenson Aickin, a sharebroker, for sending a letter threatening the life of the Promier, was convicted to-day by Mr Justice Edwards, and ordered to come up for sentence it called upon, also to enter into a bond of ±IIOOO and two sureties of £SOO to keep the peace for threo years, and not to go beyond twenty miles of Auckland. Prisoner's counsel stated it had i come to his knowledge that the Premier had no objection to prisoner being allowed his liberty. The judge said the responsibility was on his shoulders to safeguard the Premier. On a former occasion, he sentenced a man to three years for threatening the Premier. In that case Sis Joseph Ward himself interfered, and the man was liberated.
