WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. AN AUSPICIOUS OPENING. Per I'n;ss Association. Wellington, November 16. The tiis, wool sales "i tin- season were in- d today, 1500 bales being- oflered by various brokers. There was a large attendance ~f buyers. The wool as a whole was better grown than la-t year, though heavier in gteaHc. Tliete had been sumo reason to fear that today's sale would open bacLy, owing to the low prices which had been offered privately for clips ,jf crossbred wools, but prices went up lo a high level, higher even than vendors' ideas of current values. Ilalfbreds, of which there was only a small offering, were stfongly -■ought for. Light Romncv skirted •old up t'o ujd, and unskirted to ltd. Following is the range of prices current: Halfbred, fair condition, ltd to 11 i)d; ditto, inferior and skirting, ojcl to ioid; medium to fine cro-sbrcd Romncv, bright and light condition, io|d to ujd; ditto, medium and wasting condition, oJd to t_)ijd: crossbred, coarse, blight and clean, y|d to ioid; ditto, wasty and f kirty, SJd to gjd; pieces and crutchings, good, O'd to 7jd; ditto, wasty, s|d to 6d; locks, 2jd to 43d. As compared with the prices realised at the November sale 'ast year, there was an advance of -i|d jn balfbreds, and on fine, medium and coarse crossbreds.
BUCKLANI) AND SON : S REPORT. (Special to NEWS.) Auckland, November 16. At Papakura fair, heavy draughts sold at £4O to ,£44 ; medium, £23 10; to £3O; light, iiig to £26 5/; gojd hacks and harne-s, ,£l4 to £2l; ordinary, £4 51 to ,£l3 io'. At Remucra, beef was in better demand. Steers sold from £7 to ,£l2, up to 24/ per ioolb; cows, ,£4 to 15'. up to 20; per ioolb. Sheep sold freely. Wethers to 23/ij, ewes to 20/6, h Jggets to 19/, lambs 14/9 to 20/. Pigs sold well, porkers to 30/, b;y coners to 59 .
MR NEWTON KING'S' 'WEEKLY , REPORT. At the Hayniarket on Saturday there was a fail entry of pigs. Weaners made n/ to 17/, suckers 7/ to 10/. smail stoics 21 to 33/, horses £4 12/6 to ,£6 101, horse, trap an <i harness £2O. At the Mart the special sale of pure bred poultry on account of Mr F. Goodacre attracted a large attendance and prices were in favor of buyers- liens made 2/2 to 5/2, duck* 5/ Ordinary hens made 1/9 to 2/, ducks 2/, dur'klings 1/ to 2_/i, chicks 6.1 to tkl. Furniture and sundries made ordinary rates. Cattle.—At Stratford on Tuesday there was a big yarding of both store and dairy stock. There was agood attendance, and ali of the fjrmer elass sold at improved rates. Prices for dairy cattle, except for exceptional quality, were not equal to late values. Mixed yearlings made 18/6 to 25;, steer do. 27/ to 34/, heifer do. 22.6. 2 veat steers £2 10/, 3 to 3$ year do. £j 14,0 '0 £4 17 -tore c.)\vs 37/0 I 10 45 . fal do. ,£4 13/6, bulls £1 5/ to ,£lO, springing heifers £2 10/ to £5 15 , springing cow- £3 to £6. At Rahotu on Thursday bidding was brisk for all classes of stock, and nearly everything sold at the hammer at improved prices. In the mart wv sold the catalogue of sundries at the usual rates.
