MURDEROUS ASSAULT.
GAOL GOVERNOR SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. STABBED BY A PRISONER. Received 17th, 1.14 a.m. Sydney, November 16. Whist Mr Quaine, deputy govern or of JParramjJta Gaal, was in pecting the prisoners, a long sentence nan named George Harris sprang from the line and struck Quaine heavily on the fact. Then with t.ie other he stabbed Quaine in the breast with a shoemaker's knife. With the assistance of warders, Harris was disarmed.
Quaine is in a precarious condition. The wound penetrated ona of hilungs.
