Count Von Bulow, in a moderate •peech in the Reichstag, replying to "fierr Ba»sermannV interpellation, Said the idea of a closer rapprochement, or alliance with France, with the existing feeling in Trance was mpossible. Germany's idea was for pushing in between France and Russia or Brtain.
Continuing, Count Bulow said the Franco-Rssssan alliance had njt been a danger to peace, and had stood the test a» a weight contributing to the Kgular working of the world's clock. He hoped to be able to say the same of the Franco-British entente.
He emphasised that Britain and Cermanjr were mutually such gjod CWtomers, that there was every* tcasoso to tstain their mutual custom. mere had been points of discord, wherefore both were about equally
bfameabte. He claimed that Germany had put not stqn« i» Britain's way in Egypt. The establishment of friendly and confidential Anglo German relations demanded time and patience. He concluded by replying to the statement that Gtrmany was isolated amongst the nation''. .
