VALEDICTORY.
There was a large gathering of friends, the guests jf the choir, at St. Mary's Hall on Wednesday evening to say farewell to Mr and Mrs F. G. Hume, who are shortly leaving New Plymouth. The hall,, prerttjly de v corated by the ladies of the choir, was transformed into a drawingroom, and this tended in no small degree to the enjoyable success jf the evening. A good programme was rendered, as follows :—Pianoforte duct, Miss Deacon ; song, "Th Home Songs,'' Miss Taylor; song, "Pegging Away," Mr Mallett; song, "Angels Guard Thee," Miss Nixon; recitation, Mr Weir; song, "Oil to Philadc.phia," Rev. Bradbury; song, "Love Will Make Us Glad,' Mrs Wilkes (encored); song, Sunny Spain," Miss Olive Kelly; duet, "Is li?" Messrs Malle'-t and Binninguin; song, "Sally Horner/' Mr Wilkes Highly eulogistic reference was made to the services o f tile guests in church and school, the speakers bnig Kev. F. G. Evans and Messrs S. Shaw and A. E. Fletcher, the latter speaking particularly of the work done in organising the successful concerts in aid of the organ fund. Mr Shaw mentioned that it had been intended to make a fitting presentation, but Mr llumo particularly asked that this should not be dune. The social concluded with singing of "Auld Lang Syne ' and the National Anthem.
