The annual meeting of the Rahotu Athe tic Club is to be held shortly, i believe a good uumber are in favour of ho.ding the sports earlier this season, probably in February, as it is now considered that March is too late.

A euchre match was played here Oil Monday evening between teams representing Rahotu and Pungarelm. iho former were captained by Mr Cameron and the latter by Mr joncs and after some close and interesting K-'niea Ualiolu proved the winner bv J1 K all| es to 14. The winners were entertained by the lowers at dinner ill the Rahotu Hotel, when an excellent repast was served up in Most ilood s well-known style. During the evening an excellent musical programme was rendered, songs being given by Messrs Gordon, N. Phillips, Billows, H. Barrett, Groom, Poynton, Harrison; a pianoforte duet bv Messis Billow's and Gordon; violin solos by Mr Billows; and recitation, Mr Cameron. Mr Billows accompaniecl in a very able manner, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
