Maurice Roach, who appeared in the dock at the Police Court this morning- with a cut o M the back of hi? head, allowed lie bad been assaulted with a baton by Constable Young, whose cough he had mimicked. He al'eged further that the constable had assaulted him with handcuffs. The magistrate, Mr Graham, ordered inquires to be made from Dr. Blomfielcl, who saw the prisoner in the cells, as t» whether the cut was likely to be caused by a fail or not. Personally h-.: doubted the constable's statement to whether the cut was likely to be caused by striking the kerb.
