t This outing' wits spoilt by tile wca- . iher. Arrangements had been made I tot a very large gathering; as it was, about 60 or 70 assemb ed and held a sort of picnic in the Ngane Hall. Most of those in attendance came from iN'cw I'lymouth; the fine bright morn- ' oig enouraged them to start by the eaily train-. Tho Hawera con* n- ' gent had engaged a special tra'n, but had lo give it up at the last moment • uw.ng to the weather. However, a very nleasant time was spent in the nail. A goud fire was made in the , kitchen, the ladies warmed themselves, otheis prepared tea, and soon ! so.id and liqui d refreshments were 1 being dl-posed of. Then Mr Kob- ; son appealed on the stage with his i large gramaphone, and some humorous records were leeled off, much to ''he general amusement. In the meantime .some of the ladies had been enlivening things with some music on the p'ano. Mr C. E. Bellringor next took charge of the platform and, calling a few 10 h's ,nd, some good utile spei'hes, appropriate to the occas en, well! given. The speakers were Messrs Rich, Pickln, 11. Go"dacic, and J. Robinson. The lastnamed had just come from the Duntdn Univers.iy, and gave a good account of the temperance and nolicense prospects in Otago generally. Che party broke up in time to return home by the 5.17 p.m. train.
