A SHOCKING ACCIDENT.
.TELEGRAPH LINEMAN BURNED ON FIRE AT TOP OF POLE. ENTANGLED IN THE WIRES. CLOTHES BURNT COMPLETELY OFF... Received Bth, 12.50 a.m. Sydney, November 8. An extraordinary occurrence happened at Kogarah to a telephone l.ne repairer named Wilton. He was working at the top of a pole amid* a network of wires outside the poet office, when by some m e ans a can of paraffin which he was using burst into dames and enveloped htm.. He became entangled amongst the wires, and was hung up by the feet for three m.nutes, and then fell through the network, miraculously catching the bottom wire and holding on. A ladder was hoisted, and he got half-way down and then fell heavty to the ground. His clothes were burnt off, and not a vestige of hair remained on his body. He is still alive in hospital. The fire "destroyed the pole and disorganised the telephone service.
