GREAT DAMAGE IH SOUTHERN FRANCE, Pahis, November 2, A terrific storni visited the Riviera. The promenades at Nice and Cannes were destroyed. Mr James Gordon Bennett's yacht Lyistrate was wrecked at Cannes. Shipping at Toulon suffered greatly. Ths battleship Patrie and the frigate LaGuerriere broke adrift and were secured with great difficulty. The coast in strewed with wreckage. | A tidal wave caused great damage at Hyores Island. WRECK OF PROMENADES. MILLION POUNDS DAMAGE. 100 FISHING BOATS WRECKED. SECURITY OF SUBMARINES Received &, 4.52 p.m. Paiiis, November 3. The storm wrecked nineteen miles of promenades along the Riviera coasts, lomg a million pounds of damage. During the height of the storm a number of submarines dived, remaining safely below till the worst was over. Four hundred fishing yessels were tost, though there were but few casualties.
