The Rahotu Christy Minstrels, who have been practising for some tune pan, made their first appearance before the public in the Rahotu Hall on Thursday evening last, when they were greeted by a very large audience. Mr Cameron, who wa- a most efficient stage manager, had made tin most of our iimiocl staging accommodation- and had transformed the
stage into a drawing room. The first portion of the entertainment civ listed of the orthodox minstrel show. Mr King acting as interlocutor and Mes-rs Cameion as Bones and M'' Mallet as Tambo, Some of thenlocal gags were very good, and almost brought down the hou-o. At the conclusion Mi W'right ihanked all who had assisted 10 make the performance a success, especially those who had come from W'area and New Plymouth. Mr Knowles acted as accompanist in his usual able manner. After the concert dancing was commenced and kepi up with vigor till the early hours, a slight interval for i-ef;esl,ments (kind- !,- provided by the ladies) being the onlv break. ' Mr Fielder (acted as M.C. and Mr Knowles provided the iausic. The entertainment was promoted in aid of funds for renovating the school master's residence, and it is expected that about £& will be netted.
