The annual general meeting of the Taranaki Land, Building, and Investment Soi:i'">" wa» held la-i night. Mr K. Cock. ia moving the adoption ul the report iind balance-sheet, congratulated the society on its sound financial position- The profits of the pan year would enable Hie society id pay 15 per cent. 11'- went into detail' in explaining tllis ' antl in showing exactly what 'his means to borrowers, money at less than 4J per cent. The directors had boon very careful and had taken no ri-ks; in this connection over /L'jooo had been returned to depositor-, the directors not having been able to use the money. Before concluding, he referred to the late Mr James Paul's good service to the society for over 17 vears. The report and balancesheet wr,; ad'ptcd. Mc-srs K:ng and Shutt'cwoitli were elected to the directorate, and Colon'l Ellis was elected to fill the vacancy cau-cfl by the death of Mr James Paul. (Detailed report is held over.)
