m A LINER ABANDONED. Received 29,12.23 a.m. Capetown, October 28. The steamer Havershani Grange left Cape Verde on October 9th. When eight hundred mile 3 from Capetown, a fire was discovered in the hold. and spread rapidly The steamer Mataka arrived while the vessel was blazing, and rescued the passengers and landed them at Capetown. The Haversham Grange was abandoned. Heceived 29,12.45 a.m. Sydney, October 28. Tne HaTersham Grange had a general cargo for Australian ports. It is thought here the name of the rescuing vessel should be the " Matatua."
