Mosf ij«qPie are aware that at Christmas and other holiday seasons railway return tickets are obtainable at 2d' per mile lust class and id per mile second e ass. taking one of these firstclass tickets a, person can travel to Wellington and hack for 41/10. he wants to go to Lyttelrn- . If ary saloon faro ■'-' .. u the ordin--76/10, "" .„ 35/; a tolal of *"" xiie specially advertised ...Ainbition rate first class return rail and saloon steamer to Lyttcltihi, is 76/10; exactly the same as aoovo. A second class return ticket to Wellington at holiday times and saloon return 10 Lyttelton costs 55/; advertised Exhibition rale is 55/0. Under the same conditions a second class train and steerage ticket costs 40/11; the advertised Exhibition rate is 415. In the last two instances the rate is 6d higher than at ordinary holiday periods.
As far as New Plymouth is concerned a return saloon ticket by the U.S. Co's boats to I.yltelton at the ordinary fare of 77/ is the cheapest, as (he company feed and bunk you in transit and your luggage is safe. To sum up, we are getting nothing beyond the ordinary rales from the railway and absolutely nothing from the steamer companies.—I am, etc., A. li.
