MISS TITTELL BRUNE.

To ovolve a modern romantic drama from the historical facts of two or three hundred years ago is a task calling forth the best skill of the playwright. But the history of 'he Elizabcthian period in England, even though its faults of omission and commission are fairly numerous, is romantic to such degree that it readily lends itself to the dramatist who takes it upon himself to make stage presentations of those old-time scenes and situations. Hence it is that Charles Major's clever historical novel, "Dorothy Vernon of lladdon Hall," dramatised lunder the same title, and which is to be presented here on Monday evening, so aptly fits into the repertoire of so finished an artiste as Miss Tittel Brune. Playing as Dorothy Vernon, this lady has in every scene numerous opportunity of displaying her remarkable versatility. She is almost continuously throughout the long four acts the central stage figure, .jnd she has now to pourtray the petulant, peevish and high-tempered spoiled child, and ugain to act the part of the saddei""' woman whose nature is cb»- , " ! that of the devoted lo«' , . ,:t\ and whoso fate is to take f . Miss I ".niian, as Queen Elizabeth, Miss t'l'iguson as Mary Queen of Scots, Miss Stevenson as Lady Vernon, Mr Dudley as Perkin, Mr Atholwoud as Sir George Vernon, Mr Lloyd as the Earl of Rutland, and many others who form Mr J. C. Williamson'sjiartieularly strong company, are saTd to assist in a generally memorable performance. There will doubtless ne one of the biggest audiences ever seen 'ierc on the forthcoming ocasion, the honking at the Collier Piano Depot indicating this.
