HURWORTH FACTORY.
CARJIINGTUN KOAD. An interesting ceremony look place at this factory yesterday afternoon. Since tile appointment of Mr H. McPartlaud to tile managership at tlie beginning of the present season, the factory has received a thorough overhaul, Tilth many improvements and additions to the plant, amongst which is a Sabro cream elevator, a i)e Laval pasteuriser, one of A. and T. Burt's patent relators (which controls the tlosv of milk to the separator, and perhaps tho most important of all, a oneton Humble and Son's refrigerator with the necessary tanks, coils, etc., for cooling the water required for butter washing and also for regulating the temperature of the cream during the ripening process. These improvements will enable the manager to turn out a more uniform article of much better quality. On Thursday the maeinuery was decoratfd with Uowera and red, white and blue ribbons ii. quite artistia style. Mrs Jolin Pepperill, wi'o ot the chairman of the Hu l '- worth Dairy Coy, set the machinery in motion, alter winch all partook of the good things which the ladies of this district never fail to provide on such occasions. Mesdaines Smith, Petcli, McPartland, Gilbert and other ladies n'ho assisted deserve great credit for the excellent catering. A concert and ■ social was held in the schoolroom in • tlie evening. The function wa? well i patronised and was a thorough success.
