Reade for the coal and timber trade between Sydney, Newcastle, and New Zealand ports promises to be one of the most exciting for very many years past. Originally she sailed in command of her owner from Grimsby bound for Sydney, but was compelled to put into Algca Bay, South Africa, where a remarkable taie of the sea vas unfolded, involving allegations which amounted to practically threats )f murder and piracy. Advices received in Sydney last week stated that six of her sailors, Grimsby men, were charged at Port '•"lizabi'th with refusing to obey the awful commands of the commander >f the ship. The defendants were: ••'cigar Cunningham, Kdward Sloane. [olin Jam-s Carrick, Edw n Clarke, George Miller, ;;nd Sydney Tlaggar. According to the statement of Capl ain James K"ade, the master of th'vessel, the six men signed articles for 1 period of three 'years. On arrival at Algoa Bay they refused duty, md, being prevented from going ishore. tltoy leapt on board the tug vhich was going to tow the barqucn--Ine out to sea. By instructions the -nen were then landed and given in--0 custody. Subsequently he was inarmed that the defendants had threatened to take his life, and that information made him nervous as to takng them to sea again.
