Cabinet has adopted a dumber o£ Amendments to the Garbling Bill, The circulation of -JH Australian newspapers containing, advertisements or information regarding 'otteries is prohibited, and the number, of racing days on any course is limited to sixteen annually at the outside.
The amendments do not contain! any oxemption of a racecourse, so that as the Bill stands only permission ■to bet on a racecourse is gives at common law*
LOADED PEARIFLE AMONG MAIL MATTER. Received 25th, i. lO a.m., Sydney, October 24. j Ad extraordinary incident occurred in the local Tost Office. Mail matter included a pea rifle which went off, and one of the officials had a nar-. row escapo.
