PARLIAMENT.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18. (By T*cl.cgraph'.— Press Association.) LEGISLATIVE COUNCL. The Council met at 2.30. The amendments made by House in the Firearms Bill were agreed to. The Attorney-General moved the second reading, proforma, of the Statute Law Amendment Bill, to give effect to certain recommendatiors made by the Statutes Commission with respect to the Statute. The Hon. Stevens asked that each Act referred to in the Bill should be dealt with in a separate Bill, The present Bill dealt with ten subjects dealing with different phase's of various Acts,
The Attorney-General stated that the Statutes Revision Committee would consolidae the existing law into 108 Acts to be issued in four volumes.
The second reading was agreed to and the Bill referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.
The Attorney-General moved the, second reading of the Unclassified Societies Registration Act Amendment Bill, received from the House, and it was agreed to without discussion.
The Agricultural Implements Manufacture Importation and Sale Act Extension Bill, to revise the Act of last year, was read a second time without.discussion. The Tourist and Health Resorts Control Bill was further considered in committee.
The Hon. McLean moved a new subsection to clause y (authorising the Minister to grant the use of any. reserve for sports), to give those in control of public reserves during days on which a charge for admission is made, the right to exclude or reject undesirable petsons. The Attorney-General did not think it would be right to insert such a provision in a Bill of this character. After considerable dicussion, it was agreed to add the subsection to the clause, with an alteration placing the power conferred b'y it in the hands, of those to whom the use of such reserves may be granted. The Bill was reported as amended.
The Wellington Harbour Board Reclamation and Empowering Bill passed its final stages. The Kensington Park Rate Exemption Bill (the Hon. Thompson), was read a second time, and the F.ketahuna Borough Bill (the Hon. Fcldwick), and the Dunedin District Drainage and Sewerage Act Amendment Bill (the Hon. Bolt) were put through their final stages. The adjourned debato on the second reading of the Farriers Bill was resumed, and after di,sclission f he Hon. Miller's amendment, "That the question of the best system of shoeing horses be referred to a Select Commitmittee to be appointed next session, and "that the Bill be not proceeded with, was carried by 9 to 8, and the Bill was therefore discarded. The Council rose at 5 p.m.
