QUARTERLY .MEETING

Return- of inetii-ber-hip totalled—New Plymouth district 199, Coast Mission 87. Tie balance sheet was read and adop,c.l, and showed a somewhat smallci revenue than last quarter. A committee was appointed to reorganise the envelope system. The meeting unanimously sanctioned the erection of a parsonage. A report of work at Suutli Road and in country di-triets was submit-te-1 by Rev. WiUams. Rev. H. Foston and Messrs Hughson and Simmonds presented die resolution of the last quarterly meeting, "That the New Plymouth quarterly meeting sanction the constitution of the Coast Mission a separate circuit, to be named 'Cape Egmont Circuit.' The meeting gave it- consent, and several spoke in terms of approval of the decision of the Coast friends to form a separate circuit. •Much admiration was also expressed for the self-denying work of the local preachers who had in all weathers ministered to the need- of the Coast.
Rev. H. Foston was nominated by Rev. Jirooke as a candidate for the ministry, the meeting sustaining the nomination. It was further resolvej, "That it be a recommendation to Conference that Rev. Foston be the hist minister appointed to Cape Egmont Circuit.
An unanimous invitation to labor another year in the circuit was extended to Rev. T. G. Brooke. Mr Brooke, 1 in acepting the invitation, expressed tho kind thanks of himself and family for the many good offices shown by the friends in New Plymouth. A unanimous invitation was also extendeJ to Rev. R. F. Williams. Mr Williams thanked the meeting for the kind invitation, and for the many kindnesses shown liim, and' stated his intention to leave himself in the hands of Conference for appointment. It was decided to provide increased accommodation at Whiteley Church for visitors. A motion was tabled affirming the desirability of a separate conference for New Zealand Methodism, only two voting against it. A vote of apreciation and good wishes for future prosperity wa- diiccted to be conveyed to Air Stanley Collis, who is expected shmtly to leave New Plymouth. By his goodfellowship and wilingnes io help, Mr Collis has made many fast friends both within and without the Church. The choir was thanked fur self-de-nying and officii ni services rendeied !u the Church, their share 01 the public services giving much satisfaction to all inteie-ted.
Votes of sympathy and condolence wore passed with the uid<nv and family of the late M r James Paul in heir recent sad bereavement: with Rev. Williams in his late sorrow, and with Mr and Mrs Smith, of Tataraimaka, in their recent sickness and trouble.
