Dannevibke, October 12,

A meeting called under the auspices of tlio Farmers' Union, hold tore-to;., day to discuss tho Land Bill, was attended by about 50 settlers, including some of the principal runliolders of Kawke's Bay. Air Sanders, provincial president, presided, and spoke against the bill. Several other speakers opposed the endowment clauses, the 66 year's lease and the abolition of the freehold. Matthew Tansey proposed, that as the Land Act Amendment Bill is so opposed to tho unanimous wishes of the farmors, it cannot be in the best interests of the country, and all the forces of the Farmers Union throughout the colony are reauested to cooperate in opposing it" Carried unanimously.
