The Council of the Hawke's Bay Acclimatisation Society considered a proposal made by tho Government to form a new acclimatisation district including the West and East Taupo counties, and to place the same under 1 lie control of the Tourist Department. The members forwarded a unanimous protost against the proposal, on th'e grounds that after 15 or 20 yeats' successful work in acclimatising fish and stocking the rivers, tho Department would step in and reap the benefit of their work m the form of (,ho license fees; '■
