SWIMMING CLUB.
The adjourned mee.ing of the New Plymouth Swimming Club'was held on Wednesday evening, Mr 11. M. Bauchopc presiding. There was a fair attendance of members.
The annual report chronicled the most successful season to date as icgards sport. The West Coast championship meeting- held at the New Plymouth ba-hs in December resulted in ihe most successful swimming spoils held here. The past season had seen formed the first classes of public school children in life-saving events, and for long-distance swimming. The West End school provided two classes, and fifteen of these obtained certificates from the NewZealand Amateur Swimming Association. The report mentioned the loss of very useful members in Messrs S. E. Bennett and N. Gibbons.
The following officers were elected: l'lestdent. Mr W. L. .Newman; vicepresidents, Dr. Walker, Messrs litiliot, G. Tiseh. A. E. Watkins, and llalcombe; cap ain, Mr 11. Sleeker; vice-captain Mr A. R. Standishp, secretary, Mr G. E. Seabright; treasurer, Mr A. V. Stohr; auditor, Mr E. P. WebsW; committee, Messrs P. Eliott, A. L. Dixon., W. Lints, Hodge ,".]kl .Webster; handicapper, Mr'\Y. Lints.
The subscription was fixed at 2/0 Iter member. The chairman, in moving' a hearty vote of thanks li> .Mr Seabright for his work as secretary, briefly oppressed himself that the secretary was "always up to time, and always had things in good order."—The vttt: was carried by acclamation.
A vote of thanks and appreciation of Mr Lints' services as handicapper was passed unanimously, the mover (Mr I'aucitope) remarking that the handicaps had cost Mr Lints much trouble, and had given gciieral satislaeiion. Mr Lints took great interest in Ip's work, and in swimming generally. Similar votes were passed to retiring officers, to Messrs JJaticliopo and Webster for the use of 100 ms ihrouhgout the season, t,, Mr F. The malter of fixing the opening day was referred to the committee. A' the conclusion of the miline business, Mr A. K.
