THE TRENTHAM MEETING-,

Per Press Association. Wellington, October 3. In- conneclion with the Trentharu Association Meeting beginning on 281 li February, each of the fifty competitors in the final stage of the championship will receive a prize of £2. if not placet! in the championship. Tho programmi is the best yet presented by tho Association, and a large gathering of mark. - men is assured. The recent innovation at Bisley of a five inch bull's eye not proving a success, has been abandoned and tho Bisloy targets of IUOS hay been adopted. All matches will be fired under a time limit, on the same conditions as Volunteer matches of last year. In order that the time tabic may be prepared, entries aro to close on the 14th February. The first day will bo set apart for Volunteers' matches, the following day for teams' match, and Saturday will be devoted to service matches. The championship scries will commence on Monday, and will occupy most of the following week The holding of an intercolonial match as proposed by Colonel Collins was deferred till next year, as it is probabh tho Mother Country and Canada will be sending teams out to Australia, and a visit to Now Zealand may be ar ranged. The champion teams' match this year will, however, be open to teams fiom Australia, but teams niusl lie meuibera of tlio saiuo Company or Jlub which they are entered to represent. The Troutham Rifle Range is in excellent condition. The water has been drained off, and firing mounds require very little work to put them in irood order. As to additional accomodation, Colonel Collins has sent in estimates and plans, and asked for thirteen more targets on tb.3 Seddon Range, and four additional on the Collins Butts This will give twenty-five available targets on each range. The erection of huts, as recommended by General Babmgton, is now under consideration
