The proceedings aross oul of the finding of the body of a newly-born female child ill a banc! „f li m c and wa.ci at the real' of premise* occupied by Ma\v«c.n. a confectioner, who employ t'd accused as housemaid. The medical evidence given on Monday went to show ihat death was due to fracure of the skull. Defective Kemp deposed .hat on the 22nd September accused made a statement to him saying- ihat on the 15th September she gave birth to a child in Mawson's backyard. The child was born dead, and she put the body in a barrel. Her reason for concealing' the birth of the child was that she did not wish her shame to be known. She was 23 ycars'of age. Defence was reserved and accused was committed for trial
