RACING IN AUSTRALIA. Received 3, 1.10 a.m. Sydney, September 2. Twelve hundred to two hundred was accepted in oue hand about Solution for the Melbourne Cap, after which the price was five to cue. Mr Daly, haudicapper to the A.J.C., regards Solution as the finest mure he lias seen. The " Telegraph" tips Lady Wallace and Solution in the order named for the Craven Plate. Meuioubxe, October 2.
Solution's victory in the Metropolitan secured for her the impost of '.(.12 in theTuorak Handicap.
HAWKH'S BAY ANTICIPATIONS. (By "Motuioa.") The Spiing Mee ing of the llawke's Bay Jockey Club commences to-day, and, judging from the huge acceptances received for most of the events, the ciub should have a very successful gathering. New Zca'and horses figure on the card n five of the events The race in which, perhaps, most interest will be ccnued is the Craven Plate, a weight-for-agc race, run over a mile and a-quartcr, to which is attached Mr Stead's Cup. Porcelain, Isolt and Solution are the New Zealanders engaged.
The names of Hydrant and Rongoa appear in the Hurdle Race. Porcelain, Vardo, and Sandy arc entered for the Suburban Handicap of one mile. Huascar is engaged in the Giantham S.akes (one mile), and as Posiedon will have a 141b penalty, and Coliarit lolb for their previous wins, Mr Stead's candidate may show tip prominently, more especially as the Hotclikiss colt will be in receipt f a 101b maiden allowance.
In the Gmcrack Stakes, 0 f four and a-half fur'ongs, Boniform and Seddon arc engaged. The former will have to carry a 14II) penalty. Solution's s arting price in the Metropolitan Stakes was 2 to 1 against. In the Breeders' Plate Boniform started at 5 to 4 against.
