DEATH SENTENCES BY TERRORISiS. A GENERAL PUNISHED. St. i'ETEg.siiuKG, October 1. The Terrorists have sentenced M. Stolypin and the Governor of Moscow to death. The Prefect of Odessa has unexpectedly issued instructions restraining the violence of the Union of Russian People. The Courts fiord General Lararoff for issuing a pamphlet inciting the people to slaughter the Jews, also for reviving the fable that English millionc were behind the Jews to revolutionise Russia. HIDEOUS BRUTALITY". A COSSACK HORROR. PEASANTS FLOGGED TO DEATH. Received 2nd, 9.1" p.m. St. Petebsiu-bg, October 2. _ Ninety-seven peasants were tried at Kherson for destroying an estate belonging to Knooshen, a former Minister. Witnesses declared that after the estate was devastated, the Chief of the district arrived with Cossacks, and collected peasants supposed to be concerned, including a portion of the 97, and without investigation directed priests to administer the last sacrament, and.or■lered the peasants to be beaten to death. The horrors lasted four hours. Twenty-three were killed and 130 terribly injured. The brutal work exhausted the Cossacks, who compelled peasants in the vicinity to continue, some il >gging their own fathers, sons and brothers. Those killed Jwere all innocent, as the guilty ones (led at tht outset. After these revelations the Public Prosecutor decided not to avail himself of the official report. The Court, nevertheless, sentenced sixtyihree to various terms, and the rest were acquitted.
