NATIVE APPELLATE COURT.
The Native Appellate Court opened its sittings in the Masonic Hall, Robe stieet, on Tuesday morning. The Court was constituted as follows : President, Mr il. G. Seth-Smiih; Judge, Mr C. E. McCormiek ; Assessor, Mr Raurcti P. Tokonuirangi. The whole of the forenoon was occupied in setting down the order of the cases to be heard, which com prised appeals from the decisions ol the Native Land Court, in appointing successors to various Maoris deceased. To Tipi (J. Wiilison), Block 11, Section 10. Waitara, appeal against the decision of 15th June appointing successors to Parukau, deceased. A letter was read from Riwai Ikcra. asking diat the case be adjourned to Wauara. At a later stage, on Mr R- C. Hughes' application, it was decided to adjourn the case to the Auckland sessions, unless the appellant shows cause to the contrary during the present sitting. Ngatau, Pukekoha'm and oilier blocks, appeal against decision ap pointing successors to Karors ic lleihamataua, deceased. Tahuata, son of the appellant, ask ed that the ta se be heard on Sth inst.
Ngarangi Kahtia, for the respondent, objected to any adjournment. All the respondents lived at Patea. Remana Nutana, for the appelleni. said he would bo rcadv to go on next day. Ngarangi Kahtia complained of Ihe inconvenience of any adjournment, as he was very busv with his flocks. The case was adjourned til Wednesday. r An appeal by Akuhata Eruini 1 lkorangi No. 76 and Otaraua No. 2. against the decision appointing successors to Watene To Nelm, was ordered to stand over till Wednesday. Melapere Tc Puhi and Tarihira te Piki, Waitara West, section 314, and section 49. Waitara East; appealed against the appointment of Success ors to Terotice Taukawau.— Fixed fo> 2 p.m. Thursday.
Appeals of Uohepine Love and Tini J. Clements part section 30. Waitara West, and other blocks, and Tini J. Clements, against tho appointment of successors to Roera Rangi, deceased, will be heard on Tuesday, gth inst. Hprata Tuhakararo appealed against the appointment of successors ti Ruaroa Matiu, or Matui Wharcmalangi or Raumali, deceased, in connection with land known as Orimupiko.—Adjourned rill next day. Mcreana Matuarei's appeal against the appointment of successors to Kopata Ngarongomaiii, Waala te .Xgoungou, Hon pipi, Neha Manihera, and Neratini, deceased, section 170, Oakura, and other blocks will be taken after the appeal by Here te lloio and others in the same matter.
