Berthicr shot out in ;he centre opposue i',ic stand (and \v»ri by three and a-half lengths. iTime, 1.145. New Stakes.—Collarit 1, Saloiro 2, Melodrama Nine starters. The winner I'd from start to finish, and won by half a length. Time, 1.53 J. METROPOLITAN HANDICAP. Solution 1 Posicdon 2 Famous 3 Non-starters were Collarit, Refrain and Orlinc. Famous was first away. Out of the straight Savoury led, and at tho mile had a four lengths' advantage of Solution. At the halfmile Solution led, and maintaining the advantage won easily by five lengths, two lengths between second and third. Time, 2.33 J. First Steeplechase.—Officer 1, Swimmer 2, Sultana 3. There were 1 2 alters. The race was a chapter of accidents, and only the three plac e.l horses managed to stand up. Sultana loci over the last fence from Officer. The last.named was quickest on his legs on landing in the straightand beat Swimmer home bv a length, Sultana half a length behind. Time. 5.52. BREEDERS' PLATE. Honiform I Mountain King 2 Maltine 3 There were 20 starers. The quickest away was Easter Egg, Roniform lying fifth. The latter was level with tho leader before reaching the straight, when Mountain King made his effort. A great finish resulted in Boniform winning by a neck, a length and a-half between second and third.
Squatters' Handicap.—Refrain i, Obverse 2, Gowrie 3. There were 13 sarters. Won by two lengths. Porcelain held a good position into the straight, but fell back and finished in the ruck. Time., 2.8.
