He says lie had no thought of making a permanent escape and realised til at capturo was only a question of a day or two. ]lo was never sanguine of evading his pursuers. His escape he persists in characterising as a prot st against a system which lie disapproves, and he intends to make the same protest every opportunity; he will escape again llie first eiiancc.
