THE TREASURE SEEKERS.
XEMA ALLOWED TO PROCEED. Capetown, September 28. The Xema has been allowed to procced.
This expedition was promoted by ail influential London syndicate, tlio shareholders, including 20 peers and eight judges. It is reported that some diamonds which were found on the treasure islands—which it has boon suggested is Mercury Island, north 0£ Agra Pequena, off the west coast 0i rfouth Africa—were shown to Mr William Griffith, late manager of the De Beers mine, by a seafaring friend, who subsequently died. Before his death, the man gave Mr Griffiths full particulars as to the location of the island. The steamer, which has been variously designated in cable messages "iSaema," ."Naima," " Ema," and ■ " Xema," has a crew of 45, largely consisting of nayal reserve men. Ga» engines, mining implements, and washing plant were shipped at Cardiff, also a large staff of engineers.
