FORGER AND ABSCONDER.

ARKESTED IN SYDNEY. Beceiyed 28, 10.2 p.m. Stusbv, September 28. On the arrival of the steamer Victoria, Walter Uichard Webb was melted on a charge of forging the name of Edmund Mahony (Auckland) to a cheque for three hundred and thirty-eight pounds. Two hundred and ninety-five in notes and gold was found in bis possession, also receipts accounting for an additional one hundred and thirty-eight. He was charged at the Police Court and remanded for a week.
