way tickets, and to encourage the fto,iiction of tin'- tickets decided distribute reward* amongst those persons who could produce tickets bearing numbers which would be advertised. Tlie Magistrate held that this arrangement amounted to deciding the distribution of money by chance. AN APPEAL. LODGED. Per Press Association. Wellington, September 28. Notice of appeal has been given in the case of John Tait, fined to-day for conducting a "Chance'' lottery in connection with tram tickets. .
