■mprovement when the two New Plymouth grounds were completed, hop;d that Wanganui and Auckland .natches would become regular interprovincial fixtures, and that the two I'aranaki associations "would revive ihe North v. South test matches. A recommendation was made that the clubs should nominate umpires for .:he season's cup matches in time foe inclusion in the fixtures, and that greater punctuality should be observed in starting matches. ' Officers were elected:—President. Mr Geo. Bayly (re-elected); vice-pre-iidents, Messrs R. Cock (Carringtonroad), W. Bewley (New Plymouth), 5. McGuinness (Urenui), W. E. Before receiving nominations for che post of. iiecretary, the chairman said he wanted to say "a lot of kind words" about the present secretary, Mr E. Whittle. It would be imposiible to do better. (Applause.) Mr Hasell considered Mr Whittle 'the best secretary the Association ever had." Mr Whittle was re-appointed, and ■hanked the members for their appreciation, Whilst not anxious to retain the secretaryship, he said "nothing would ever damp his ardour for cricket." There were five nominations for che selection committee : —Messrs A. S. Hasell (New Plymouth), Frank Robertson (Carringtonroad), C. Wilson (Urenui), and G. Gudgeon and M. J. Crombie (Inglowood). Zealand Cricket Council, Mr Hardy. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Hardy for his past services, several members speaking oulogisticaliy of i nis intercsc in the game. A letter was received from the New Zealand Cricket Council stating that a match with the M.9ty'ebone Club had been definitely sec down for 7th. and Bth December at New Plymouth, to be played against a team representative of the two Taranaki Associations. The chairman thought an effort should be made to have the venue changed, so that the match, should be played at Hawera, as there was
no N?W Plymouth ground available. He was anxious that the two Associations should combine in Buch matters. He moved that the Taranaki Association be written to with that effect. . /
Mr Bauchopc thought the proper course would be to suggest to the New Zealand Association that the match should be played at Hawera, and that the Taranaki Aesocition be informed of this decision.
Mr Weston put this in the form of a motion, and, Mr Bauchope seconding, the proposal was adopted. The secretary was instructed to write asking the different clubs »o submit the names of two or more delegates willing to act in fixtures throughout the season. On the motion of Mr Bauchope, seconded by Mr E. Avery, a heart/ vote of thanks was carried to all the officials of the Association during the past year, and to the Press. The chairman brought up the Car-rington-road recommendation, that tho juniors should be represented on the Association. He thought the junior players should receive more attention and consideration.—Notice of motion will be given to alter '.he rules. The chairman, for the Carringtonroad Club, also suggested that the rules be amended so that the Egmont Village, West End, and Fire Brigade teams should be allowed to entor junior teams; in the event of either of these winning the Shield, they should put iq a senior team the next year. It was stated that West End and the Fire Brigade were Saturday teams, and could not enter for the Thursday competitions, and the mattor dropped. Mr Scholofield drew attention 'o rule 13, by which the selection committoo was elected by all members of affiliated clubs. It was impossible for him to obtain a point for his club in the country, for he was outnumbered by 20 or 30 town members. Mr Weston said the rules were, so framed as to meet this case, a discussion ensued, and the matter was eventually referred to the delegate on the Council. | Mr Scholefield asked why the Association had denied Skelton (Waitara) the right to play for Urenui after the Waitara Club had dropped out of the fixtures. The Urcnui delegate accepted the explanations <riven. ® of th f r °ut»ne busi- , £l* Whittle provided an enjoyable hght supper, and Mr Whittle was asked to convey to her the thanks of the meeting. •
