URENUI.

FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. The annul meeting of the Cricket Club was held in the 'library last Wednesday evening. Mr R. \V. Pigoa. who occupied the chair, generously donated &i i 6 (the fee due this season to the North Taranaki Cricket Association). The balance sheet shows the Club to be financially prosperous. An order for material for the ensuing season has been placed. Mr McGuinness Vi-as elected patron, Mr Charles Wilson captain, and Mr W. Wilson hon. sec. (re-elected). The selection committee was held over. It was decided to open the season with a match Married v. Single. A discussion took place on the rather cavalier treatment if the Club by the North Taranaki Association, ot which more later. The Club's delegate to the Association will be Mr Scholefield. With several new members of pro<mise the Club should have a successful season. On Thursday, the Rifle Club (B. team) scored a victory over Waitara Volunteers j(B.) by 16 points. A very popular member, is about to tie the marriage knot. Good wishes. Last week. Mr Ballantyne paid an inspection visit to the school, and expressed surpriie at the attendance. There are now 108 on the roll, so that very shortly another assistant should be aooointed.

The tradespeople have been making alterations and improvements. What with new verandahs and coats of paint the township looks like an early spring. Mr McGuinness, too, keeps well up to date, and has just had erected a windmill to pump water 10 the upstairs regions. With such progress. What's wrong with forming a Town Board ?
