OBITUARY.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wcl'ington, September 21. Joe Dransfieid. who was for mam years one of the leading citizens f Wellington, died here, aged 81 years. Deceased came to Wellington in tinearly days from Australia, and car ried on business here until ill health compelled his retirement into privat' life. In 1870, when the affairs of the district ceased to be administered by a town board, he was elected Mayor of Wellington, and held office fm four consecutive terms, being succeeded in 1574 by the late Mr C'. H Borlasc. Mr Dransfieid again store for the Mayoralty in IS7S. and nreturned. He was reelected in IS7O. but only occupied the position unti Qth of May of that year, when he re signed.
