PRIMITIVE METHODIST BAZAAR.

The interior of the Foresters' Ha ! l, in Gill street, wore an animated aad picturesque appearance on Thursday afternoon and evening on the occasion of the bazaar held in aid of the funds for the re erection of the Primitive Methodist Church at Fitzroy. The building was fitted up with nicely decorated stalls upon which was displayed a large amount of articles, fancy and plain. Some of the needle and fancy work disposed of was of a very, superior kind, and testified, as indeed' did the whole of the goods on view, to the whole-hearted way in which the ladies of Fitzroy, with their friends, had worked for the function.- At 3 o'clock Mr E. Dockrill (the Mayor) in an appropriate speech opened the bazaar. In the course of his remarks he pointed out that the old Primitive Methodist Church at Fitzroy was the first church ereoted by the denomination south of the equator. The building had been erected in 1844 by the Rev. llobt. Ward and was opened about two months before the first Primitive Methodist Church in Australia. The Mayor expressed the wish that the function would be a great success. Business was immediately commenced and a brisk afternoon and evening ensued during which a large amount of goods was disposed of. Following were the stall-holders :- Fancy Goods Stall •■-Mesdames Kendall and D. Bellringer (Fitzroy.) Plain Stall—Mesdames W. Griffiths and Runciman. Lollie Stall—Mesdames F. Griffiths and Kibby. Produce Stall—Mrs Cathro and Miss T. Foote Flour Stall—Miss Foote. Refreshments Mesdames Penny, Dinn, Moon, Stanners and Miss Bishop, Side Shows--House that Jack Built, Mr Cyril Bellringer. Electric Battery —Mr P. do la Haye. Telegraph Station—Mr N. Coad. Shooting Gallery—Messrs J. Upton aid C. Bellringer. It is understood that sufficient funds will shortly be in hand to make a start with the new church, which will be in charge of the Rev. J. F. Doherty.
