TRAIN FALLS OVER AN EM 15AXKMF.NT. CARRIAGES ABLAZE. NUMBER 01-' HEAD RECOVERED TOTAL CASUALTIES UNKNOWN" Received 20th, g.30 p.m. London, September 20. A crowded Scotch express from King's Cross, instead of stopping at Grantham, through the brakes apparently failing, went slightly beyond, towards a curve, where the engine and tender parted from the rest of the train and toppled over a steep embankment.
The wrench caused several coaches to derail. They struck the coping of a bridge and followed the engine down the embankment. Several of the cars are ablaze and burning furiously. Up to the time of telegraphing, ten passengers have been extricated, including 5 dead, two ladies, and three gentlemen. Two others, dead, were seen in the wreckage. - The number of injured is un known. The mail van superintendent is missing'.
