The circumstances of the case were that the infant, the child of a single girl, had been given into Mrs Guy's care, £2O being paid by the mother. The chi d died 011 Sunday •last, not having been seen by a medical man. It was 21 months old. The surgeon, who made the post mortem, said he found the body thin and emaciated. It weighed about half what it should have done. There was hardly any lat on the body, and there was no sign of food in the stomach or intestines. The child had been given a lung ba'sam prepared by a local chemist. This contained tincture of chloroform and morphia and laudanum.
