HIDE & TALLOW SALES. XEWTOX KIXG'S REPORT. On Tuesday, mh inst., I held my usual f' ur-weekly sale. The cata ogue again showed an increase of pioduce offcri'd. It comprised 1050 iudes, 223 yearlings, 3304 calf sk.ns. 53 bags and 2 bales of wool, kj casks, 2 kegs tind 13 tins tallow, and considerable quantities of dry bones, horse liair, horns, cowtai : s. etc. The attendance of buyers was betier than u«ual, towns from Auckland to Dunedin being represented. It is gratify ing to note that the catalogue is attracting fresh buyers from onisi If districts. Competition was exceptional y keen, and all lots submitted were I sold and fu 1 values • were realised. I Hides advanced fully §d per lb. call skins id per lb. I quote : Hides: Medium ox 25/ to 30 , light 20/ to 24 ; cow, heavy, up to 26 b, medium 22 6 to 24;, light 18; to 21/; badly flayed, damaged and cut hides from 12/ to 17 0, yearlings 4 to 96, calf skins 2 3 to 2,9 for light sorts, 210 to 4 for heavies. i ; to 1/9 for badly fayed and cut. Dry 9d each. Sheepskins: Butchers' pt damp6o to 0 . do. dry SJd to Sjd per lb, damp and sa'ted 56 to 5,2, farmers' pt damp 3,6 to 0,6, do. dry ?d to 7 Jd. Wool: Crutchings 4} to Gjd, fleece 7' to SJd. lambs' 6jd to 73d, locksid ;o 3d, dead OJd to Sd. Tallow in casks 22/ to 22,6 per cwt, in tins 16,6 to 20' per cwt. Horns: 4 to 4 3 per 100. Dry bones, 4 per ton. Cow tails 1 6 per doz. Horsehair 1 6 to 17 per lb. I anticipate receiving a greajly increased number of ca fskins for next sa'e, and clients are particularly r 1 quested to note that they will be received at any time up to Thursday, 4th October.
