AN EDITOR'S LIABILITY.
Per Press Association. Cihiistchurch, September 18, E. Hughie, editor of Christchurch "Truth," is being prosecuted by Mr Macpherson, Inspector of Dairies. "Truth" published an article by a special roporter, in which the shocking state of certain dairiaa was described. Macpherson, with a view to proceeding against the dairymen for breaches of the Act, went to Hughio and asked the name of the reporter and the names of I lie dairies roferrod to. Hughie refusod, and asked that the request be made in writing. He was supplied with tho requests in writing, but still refused. Contending that the tjefufe'4 was an offence under the Acf ( Wap; pherson took procaecjings. After lengthy argument, the Magistratejj&itl the only person liable to prosecution for refusing to give information, was a person connected with the dairy, and dismissed the case. The Crown prosecutor said the case would be taken to a higher court.
