TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
The Land Board met on Tuesday. Present: Messis F. Simpson (Com missioni'r of Crown Lands)-, in the chair, and Messis Jleslop, Rattenbury, and McCluggage. Mr J. B. Commit was grained leave of absence on urgent public business. LAND APPLIED FOR. I he action of the Commissioner in respect to mortgages was approved. RANGER'S REPORT.
E. Tolme, assistant ranger, reported on the inspection of 26 holdings, comprising- an are a of 15,533 acies 2 roods. Improvements required "•ere effected £3322. Ten se.ectors were residing where residence was not required, and twelve had not fleeted sufficient improvements.— Ihe necessary action will be taken with those in default. EXTENSIONS.

The Board decided to forfeit and re aHut section 9, b'ock (j, Totoro, lvid by G. 11. Baker, and the Public Trustee will bo informed accordingly. Iv J. Dougherty applied to forfeit section <), block 13, Ohiira.—Accepted, and the section svi.l be re allotted. E. J. Gothard, for his son, offered to take up this section. —Refused. T. R. Reynolds, having failed to effect the necessary improvements on section 15, block 2, Aria, and A. Bar nett, in respect of section 1, block 13, Aria, will be asked to show cause why their sections should not be forfeited. ACQUIRING THE FREEHOLD.
Mr Barry (section 4, block 5, Kapara) and i). Johns (section 44, b'ock 11, Ngaire) were given permission to acquire the freehold of their holdings. NO ACCESS. J. C. R. K. McKenzie wrote stat ing he \yas unal)'e to effect improvements' 011 section 5, block u~, Upper Waitara, owing to want of access, and asked to be relieved of the section so that he could take up another. —The Buaul will ask if lie desires to forfeit.
