PRESENTATION TO MR. OKEY.
TO-NIGHT'S FUNCTION. | Tlio presentation to Mr Okey will be made this evening at the Theatre Royal. Mr Massey is to arrive by the express train from Wellington at 7.4.0, and will at once go to the meeting. In connection with the presentation, which Mr Massey will make, ho will take the opportunity afforded bv the gathering to deliver a short speech, in which he will briefly set out the platform of his Party. This being his first public address since the accession to office of the Ward Government, and the announcement of their policy, tonight's meeting should attract a largo audience.
In addition to Mr Massey, there will bo several other speakers, quite new to this community—Mr Jas Allan, M.H.E. for Bruce ; Mi - Lewis, M.H.E. for Courtcnay; Mr Hardy, M.H.E. for Selwyn; and Mr Malcolm, M.H B, for Clutlia. After the close of the meeting a light supper will be provided at " The Burlington," at which tho visitors from Wellington will be entertained. This will give an opportunity to (hose desiring to meet Mr Massey and the other members. Tickets for the supper can be had from Mr Harry Newman, corner of Devon and Liardet streets. We have been asked to state that there ought 10 be no room for misapprehension as to the character of to-night's meeting. In all subscription lists and in all correspondence it was plainly stated that the testimonial to Mr Okey was in recognition of his public services, and is respect to his candidature for the Taranaki seat. Moreover, it was announced at the outset that Mr Massey would make the presentation.
