Vickers and Stevens report that there was a gcod entry of catt'e ,|n their Inglewood yards on Wednesday, and bidding was much better for all elapses, and nearly everything was sold at the hammer. Messrs Webster Bros, report: Poultry of all kinds are still veryscarce, and there is an increased demand on all hands. Ow ing to the wet weather very few birds were penned. Our mart sale following was well patronised, and sma'l lines of choice seed potatoes, table carrots, parsnips, carrots and brocoli found ready buyers. Cattle: We were favored with very fine weather for the opening of our new sale yards at Omata on Thursday, and the large attendance of buy efs, fanners and the general public was veiy gratifying to us, and goes to show that the establishment of the yards in this district supplies a long felt want. The bidding was brisk throughout, and nearly every lot was sold under the hammer or privtely. Prices ranged as under: Good mixed yearlings 23 to 25 . stores 22 to 45 , springing heifers 57 oto Q2/, springers £4 to £6 15/, j'rsey 10/ to £6 17 , heifers 33' to 38. 15 mos. half Shorthorn bull 3O , 18 mos. steers 31 6. 2 year d 0.34 1 to 39 .

There has not been much business in investment stocks, banks and insurance being the chief lines dealt n. National Bank, new issue, have hardened slightly, while Bank of New Zealand have sold as low as £8 K,. Standard insurance are wanted at £ 1 o 0, and Wellington Trust and Loan have been sold at £B, a considerable advance . Waihis have again advanced and reached Xio.as has been for some time predicted. Notwithstanding the wonderful resources of this mine, it i - difficuit to see how the present price is justified without some sub. .antia : increase of dividend or annual b nus, as only 6 per cent is now returned from the dividend, and it would only require 17 years' working to return the capital without any interest. The number of transactions in Taranaki Petroleum shares is increasing, the stock being dealt in all over the colony. I report sales at 13 6 and 14 . Pactolus has paid another 2 dividend and the shares are now quoted at 37..
