Three-quarters: Wallace (Wellington) ,Dive (Tiiranaki), 11. D. Thomson (Wellington). Five-eighths: Hunter and Mynutt (Taranaki). Half: Roberts (Wellington). Wing Forward: Gillet (Auckland). Forwards:
Walkins (Wellington), Dunning (Auckland), O'Sullivan (Taranaki), Spencer (Wellington), Francis (Auckland), Seeling (Auckland), and Glasgow (Hawke's Bay). The vis'tors liad the advantage of a fairly strong b'-ccze in the first spell, but failed to make uso of llie opportunity, and were on (lie defensive for the greater part of the time. In this spell Wlielau scored a try for Otago Early in the second spell Sibbald scored another try for the home tea/n, and towards the finish James Hughes scored for Sydney, after a good piece of forward play. The exhibition given by the Sydney players was again disappointing. The players arc evidently lacking in stamiua, and except for a brief interval in the socond spell, when their forwards showed some dash, they were outclassed, and rarely looked like scorittg. The defence was weak, aad the team lacked cambmation and energy. Tho 01 1150 team played fairly well, and but for inaccurate passing would probably have compiled a big score, OTAGO V. MANAWATU. Nelson, September 12. The football match Christchurch High School Old Boys versus Nelson College Old Boys was played to-day before a large attendance. The weather was perfect. The visitors showed general superiority anil won by 13 to ml. To.DAY's match. The representative iixturo between Tai'anaki and Wanganui is to be played at Stratford this afternoon and should provide 11 capital game. No doubt a large number of New Plymouth enthusiasts will take advantage of the 1 excursion rates, and visit the inland town.
Ecfomng to tke football final, the Okaiawa correspondent of the " Star " says that a good many of the local players, disgusted with tke long delay, have gone out of training, while others who are engaged in tke dairying industry are dubious of being able to get away, so tkat Okauiwa's ckances ot obtaining the coyerted title ot " champion" are not very bright.
