N.Z. ART ACADEMY.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, September 9. Lord Plunket yesterday opened the annual exhibition of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Dr. W. Fell, the president, referring to the prospects of a permanent ' art gallery, sai(| the Academy Council had about five hundred pounds' worth of pictures stowed away, and had also sent ,£iSoo to England, which was being expended in the purfhate of pictures. It was expected the permanent gal Icry would l>e opened soon after Christmas. The Governor said the results achieved by the. academy were wonderful, since art was not supported as it should be. He appealed to cultured people for more hd'.p.
