SHAREBROKERS' LICENSES.
PEJI'BESS association. Dunedix, September 4. The first case of the kind, under the Sharcbrokers Act, came before the Police Court to-day, when F. G, Cray was charged with acting aa a sharebroker without boing the holder of a license. Cray is tlio manager of an insurance company, the general man. ager being W. A. Walton/formerly of*this city, but mostly residing in Sydney. Walton is the holder of a sharebroker's license. The attention otthe authorities was drawn to : the matter by the valuation declaration by Cray that he was a sharebroker carry. 1 ing on business in Dunedm. Thero was no proof that he hud aoted as a sharebroker or had sold shares, and defendant in giving evidence,; said his only dealings had. been in municipal debentures. The charge was dismissed, but the point was made clear . that no one could do sharebroking on ajSlicense held by another person for whom he was acting, •
