PRESENTATION.
At the Central school on Friday afternoon tho boys and girls of the fourth standard entertained the teachers at afternoon lea, making provision in a lavish style. The gathering was held in order to give an opportunity of making a presentation to Mr A. .1. ! Larding, tlie second assistant teacher, ■vlio has accepted a position in the secondary department of the Levin district high school. Mr Dempscy, before calling on Master Tom Kirkby to make the presentation, congratulated Vlr Harding on his rapid promotions from school to seliool, and thanked him for the manner in which he had always assisted in carrying out the regulations of the Central, Mr Hardng always had a hearty, happy manler, whatever his task; was hardworking, and seemed to get hard work >ut of his pupils, without his bruneis ind strl-tnoss raising any friction vlaster Kirkby, for the diss, then presented the teacher with a very line ct of carvers in case, sor -ow at Ins departure and a hope to sec lim at the Christchurch c idet encamp ucnt. Mr Harding, in his.reply, said lie had never in his life been so happy : ind contented as during his term at the Central school, to whose teacher- ' and scholars he alluded to in mos' ' kindly terms. - Mr Mcllroy, for the ; leather*, thanked the juvenile host ! md hostesses for tho entertainment ' ind cheers for Mr Harding and Mr Dempsey concluded a gathering n> | which the pupils seemed to vie with one another in honoring their guests.
