GAMBLING.
To tho Editor. . Sir,—ln "Moturoa's" article 011 "Gambling,'> which appeared in your columns a few days ago, there was much with which the most enthusiastic Rumbling crusader could agree. But "Moturoa" docs not distinguish sufficiently clearly between gambling and genuine investment. He says "A person may invest a pound in gold, silver, oil, or any other shares without being called a gambler, but when the investment is on a horserace it is termed gambling." D oes "Moturoa" forget that if the gold or the Silver or the oil pays a good dividend every investr alike benefits but if a man gets a good dividend from a horserace other men must lose the money they have invested and his profit can only be through their loss? -1 am, etc., EGMONT.
